By all accounts a most satisfying win, as it went right down to the final ball. Toby Lyons played in a delightful, classy fashion for his maiden Weekenders ton. And Atherton-esque ‘Ender, Jon Twigg recorded his maiden ‘Enders fifty. As the Weekenders Secretary put it “Tobes and Twigg were outstanding. No one hung about chewing up balls - 6.4 is a fairly butch rate at our level…”. In the field, WCC boasted its ’three Ds’ pace attack, conning an LBW and bowling four of the top order. Skipper cleaned up two ‘set' batsmen at crucial moments. An ample gent called Ronah hammered his way towards the total but couldn’t seal the deal in the final over against batting hero, Toby Lyons and his occasional at-the-death-spin.
