WCC v Boughton 23.6.13

Boughton 201-4

WCC 104

Boughton won by 97 runs

Oysters, lobster and sunshine failed to attract a full compliment of Weekenders for this prime fixture. But thanks to tireless match management from d'Inverno, and augmented by some sporting irregulars, we fielded a respectable 10. One guest was unfortunate enough to pull a hamstring while picking up a stationary ball. Another faced up to his first ever delivery with a box snugly protecting his anus (it needed the kindly intervention of the bowler to avert a possible mishap). Those regular Weekenders who chose instead to spend the day in stripey face paint and jesters' hats at the Champions Trophy Final missed a choke every bit as comical as England's. Chasing 202, we were 69-2 off 15 overs and 104 all out after 31.
