Trinity vs Weekenders

After a curry with 2/3 of the Harvey boys, Douglas and d'Inverno, and a full English a few hours later followed by lunch in the pub almost immediately, the opposition were always up against it.

Trinity won the toss and elected to bat on a hot sunny day and soon the human pause machine Chris Douglas was in action. 8 maidens from 11 overs says as much about the aggression of the Trinity batsmen as it does about Douglas's bowling, but it was an excellent display of control and ingenuity from the new slimline version of our favourite opening bowler.

Trinity stuttered to 119-8 for tea and after some welcome pinch-hitting from Simmonds, Maloney and Compton (doesn't that sound right?) saw the boys comfortably home with 9 wickets and 15 overs to spare. There was a big welcome for our new leggy Luke Cronin who got more bounce than any of the older, fatter and faster bowlers and to Mike Compton who with a mixture of superb timing and agricultural mastery, sythed his way to an unbeaten 48. An easy victory was sealed with a few cheeky beers in the setting sun with our very friendly hosts.
