Youth and Experience

Just the Right Blend of Youth and Experience Keeps Weekenders Undefeated in May.

Weekenders vs Bury

Weekenders win toss and elect to bat. A 5th wicket partnership of 83 between the old-stagers Dunne and Harvey Senior rescued weekenders at 33-4. Dunne's finest knock in living memory takes weekenders to decent score though the 3 slips just before tea suggested the opposition still fancied it.

Admittedly the opposition had been generous in their selection of bowlers and their field placings but they not only underestimated the sheer bloody-mindedness of the club's premier cricketing sage, they also underestimated our bowling. In particular Hunter and Douglas who, with 7 wickets between them, and 3 wickets in the last 2 overs, allowed the weekenders to steal an unlikely victory, winning by 7 runs with 2 balls to spare.

A great ground, a friendly oppo. and a clubhouse serving stella topped a great day.
